Sunshine Hotel and Residence Pattaya Review

Girl Friendly and Inexpensive

217/1 Moo 10, Soi 8, Pattaya Beach Road
Pattaya Sunshine Hotel and Residence is located on a very busy section of Pattaya's red light district. It's definitely not a hotel to bring your wife and kids to. Though it is the favorite hotel for men who enjoy the company of bar girls on their laps while other ladies gyrate around a chrome pole.

And Pattaya's red light strip called Walking Street is just a 5 minute stroll south, while the beach is just a 5 minute walk west. But that's not the sole reason why Sunshine is so popular.

It also helps that it is one of the most affordable budget hotels in Pattaya and a very good choice for tourists looking to stay in Pattaya a couple of weeks or longer.

However, this hotel does have its bad points and good points.

Pattaya Sunshine Hotel and Residence is a 3 star hotel and certainly has a lot of mixed reviews. And the condition of the hotel has improved though since the big renovation in 2010. Since it's located on Soi 8 the building is flanked by minor go go bars like; First Go Go Bar, Sexy Lady, and World Wide. And of course the area has its beer bars and small quaint clubs where Thai freelancers and bar girls can be found cat every every man in their sights.

And at night your hearing will be assaulted with loud music late into the night until 2am. Which will be much worst in the lower floors. There are 12 floors in this hotel. So it would be a wise choice to request a room on a higher floor since it will be a bit quieter. Plus if you get a room with a high floor facing the bay you'll get a really good view Pattaya Bay. And of course you have to pay a bit more for your room in order to get that view. Everything has a price.

Seaview Room - Pattaya Sunhine Hotel
Initially the building was first a hotel. Then the residence building was built shortly after. Hence the name of the property and the reason why there are two swimming pools.

Pattaya beach is only a 5 minute walk away but the swimming pools is a good place with adequate sun to tan though sun chairs are a bit sparse.

If you book a standard room, which cost about 1000THB (low season rate) you'll end up in the hotel wing. Spend a little bit more cash to get a sea view room. It's worth it in my opinion.

With rates so low, it's easy to see why the hotel is often overbooked. The room rate usually includes a free buffet breakfast, served from 7am to 11am which is quite popular with the expat crowd who pay 150 baht to fill themselves up with pancakes, eggs, bacon and many more Western and Asian food variety.

Now if you can afford to pay a little bit more, say around 1400THB per night than you'll land yourself a much better quality room in the residence wing. Rooms there are larger, with newer furniture and a bit more cheerful decor.

These are price rates for August 2012 travel dates
As always I recommend using Agoda for booking hotels in Pattaya, especially for Sunshine Hotel and Residence, where you can find current guests reviews, discounts and free cancellations.

Remember though, standard rooms in the tower building are smaller at 24 square meters. However, a stand room at the residence wing is 33 square meters. Agoda is offering both room types at 1400THB total with taxes and breakfast included. It's a no brainer on which to choose.

Bar  Girls and Massage Parlors Near Sunshine Hotel
All the rooms come with the usual comforts. There is a mini fridge with snacks, though it's a better idea to get your own snacks outside at the 7 Eleven.

The television has limited channels but lets face it if someone wants to watch football in Pattaya they will probably do so in a bar with a cold beer in one hand and a bar girl in the other. Most importantly all rooms are air conditioned with in room controls.

As far as guest facilities goes there really isn't much except two swimming pools. Massage services are handled outside and there are plenty around either for a traditional massage to one where clients can get a "happy ending".

But for all the die hard party animals who have the "I'll sleep when I'm dead" attitude and traveling on a budget, this hotel is not a bad choice at all.
