An Update on Your Upcoming Visit to Bangkok and Pattaya

A Quick Rundown

Although I'm still in Malaysia my friends living in Bangkok and Pattaya have kept me updated on what's been happening since the passing of Thailand's beloved King.

From the onset it seemed the government was initiating a complete and utter shut down of entertainment venues indefinitely.

As of now the government has deemed that type of policy would utterly destroy tourism. And it would. Even though the country's red light districts doesn't account as a large percentage according to official figures. But to me it would make a noticeable dent.

Go Go Bars Are Open (Sort of)

Go Go bars in Bangkok and Pattaya are operating but not as usual. You'll notice things will be slightly quieter or muffled. Loud thumping music is which a prerequisite for bars have lowered their decibels out of respect.

Though in Pattaya go go bars were closing earlier, around 1am. Not sure how long that will go on but not long is my guess.

But it's business as usual.

Oil and Soapy Massage

These joints have not been affected at all. Since no loud music is played inside and the doors are already closed.

Beer Bars and Street Hookers

Ladies have to eat. You'll still find freelancers on the streets as well as in beer bars. Don't be alarmed. They'll be dressed either in black or white or both. It's just out of respect again.

Probably a good idea for you to pack a few black or white shirts as well for your trip.

An Update on Visiting Thailand...

I wrote a post yesterday about what to expect if you're coming to Thailand's red light districts in the near future.

Now I can't predict what will happen of course but so far Thailand Tourists Authority put this info out http://www.tatnews.org/recommendations-regarding-mourning-period-for-his-majesty-king-bhumibol-adulyadej/ to clarify a couple of things.

From tat news.org website
According to the 3rd bullet point, it's entirely up to bar and nightclub owners for how long they want to close. This is as official as it gets. There has been no mandatory days of closing set by the government as reported earlier.

I'm assuming all go go bars will close for just a short period of time. A closed bar is a bar that bleeds money. How many days is anyones guess but I would assume it wouldn't be too long.

And don't expect music in bars to go full blast either anytime soon. I can just imagine that the sounds of go go bar girls' high heels scraping along the stage will be a lot louder than the DJs music.

So far the outlook for Thailand's nightlife industry is not as bleak as it could be. Hell even the Thai stock markets has jumped due to the smooth transition. In another words, no shit has hit the fan.

What to Expect in Thailand the Coming Months...

Info for Travelers Too Late to Cancel Their Trips to Thailand's Red Light Districts...

Traditionally the month of October kicks off the high season for visitors heading to Bangkok or Pattaya for the red light districts.

But after the recent death of the King of Thailand the country is in a state of mourning. How long will the country mourn for now is hard to say. King Bhumibol Adulyadej is much beloved and revered in the country so it's safe to say it could be a long while.

I Can't Cancel My Trip, What Can I Do?

Even though your choices for finding Thai working girls has been reduced, anyone can still find what they're looking for here in Bangkok or Pattaya.

In general, any establishment playing loud music will have to shut down. Because loud music is equated with celebration. So without a question go go bars will remain closed. Until when I'm not sure.

Which is very bad news for Nana, Patpong, Soi Cowboy in Bangkok and Walking Street out in Pattaya. I've never been a big fan of overpriced go go bars anyways. But they certainly are a great place to hang out with a group of friends and enjoy going in once in awhile.

Oil Massage Shops and Soapies Are Still Your Best Options

Because oil massage shops and soapies do not play loud music and not really a "celebratory" type of business they will remain open. However, some of those businesses may close for a few days or up to a week as a show of respect.

And I've been saying this for a long time, oil massage shops in Bangkok is the best place to find good looking girls and the price is cheaper than go go bars. And there are many nice affordable hotels near the oil massage shops.

Freelance Thai Hookers in Beer Bars, Discos and Clubs

Beer bars can most likely remain open as alcohol can still be sold. Beer bars such as the ones found around Nana Soi 4 and Soi 7 Beer Garden can be open for business. They just can not play loud music.

Thermae sell alcohol and yes they do have music. But much like beer bars they don't have to turn it on. Freelance Thai hookers in Thermae will most likely be dressed in black or white as a show of respect though. But you can still pick them up.

After hour discos and clubs however is a total different story. These types of venues depend on  music in ear splitting decibels to draw in customers and street hookers.

I never really promoted escort services either because I don't find much use for them. However, due to the recent situation, I'm guessing a lot of go go girls that are temporarily unemployed may look for work at an escort service.

But if you don't want to pay crazy escort rate prices I suggest looking at WeChat, Tinder (or Grindr if that's cup of tea).

Bangkok Backpage has been used by a lot of my friends looking to save some money on hooking up with Thai girls with a lot of success.

The Bottom Line

Any business catering to sex tourists in Thailand playing loud music and dancing will be closed until further notice.

Sex workers in Thailand have to work and earn money. If they don't they'll starve and get thrown out of their apartments. If you've known a working girl long enough you will find out that they spend money as fast as they can make it.

And there's no way in hell they're going to work at a "normal" job after the taste of fast money.

With all the go go bar girls temporarily unemployed they have to go somewhere to find customers right?

My guess is you're going to find more girls inside beer bars and perhaps on the streets of Sukhumvit. There could be a lot more sex workers outside of Nana Plaza Hotel's parking lot and between Nana Soi 4 down to Sukhumvit Soi 15.

If you're still traveling to Thailand this month or the next you might want to pack some black or white shirts as a show of respect as well.

Back in Bangkok for a Few Days

Because of all the rain that's been going on I had to head back to my house in Bangkok. The neighborhood I live in is prone to flooding like most of the city is.

So far everything is okay. But for the businesses in the red light districts maybe it's not so good. With all the rain ladies working in the industry can't get to work.

Since the majority of working girls live away from Sukhumvit or Patpong where the red light districts are centered, ladies can have a difficult time getting to freelance bars and go go bars.

This doesn't mean go go bars will be empty. Because bar girls get penalized if they don't get their asses to work. So there is motivation for girls to get into their bikinis and shake their asses in front of customers' faces.

Freelance bars are a whole different story. I went over to Thermae on a particularly rainy night around 11pm and the place was not as packed as it could be. Even customers seem to have stayed in their hotel rooms as one of my favorite waiters told me it's been quiet.

We're in October now which is the final leg of the rainy season in Thailand. But this rainy weather seems quite peculiar and stubborn so who knows it might even go well into November which is the start of the cool season. It's happened before.

So What's a Guy to Do?

Well I already mentioned many bar girls can't get to their places of work. That doesn't mean there's a shortage of ladies to bar fine and take back to your hotel room. But there is no doubt many establishments are quieter. But you didn't fly halfway around the world for nothing right? And you don't want to stay inside your hotel room and jerk off all by your lonesome self, right?

One alternative is to head to Phrom Phong's oil massage parlors. If you do a search on a blog here I've written extensive posts on oil massage parlors. These joints don't just polish your knob. They do full service.

Pretty much all oil massage shops in Phrom Phong have massage girls living on premise. Though the better looking massage girls live just a little bit further away because they can afford it.

And Phrom Phong has a lot of decent hotels nearby that are very close to the massage shops.
